Can you overdose on marijuana? / Can I die from a cannabis overdose?

Plus IconPlus Icon

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there has never been a death resulting only from cannabis use. You cannot overdose from cannabis the same way you could with harsh drugs. However it is possible to have a “bad trip”, which is a frightening and/or unpleasant experience with a psychoactive drug.

The fact that no one has overdosed on marijuana does not mean that you cannot overdo it and have a bad reaction. It is important to stay safe and make good decisions when taking marijuana, as it still remains a drug. If you are consuming cannabis for the first time, consult one of our employees to be directed towards a safe amount of cannabis intake for your body size. One bad reaction can scare you away from marijuana and all of the benefits that come with the plant!

Which method is the best way for you to consume cannabis?

Plus IconPlus Icon

In North America, cannabis usage has become a lot more accepted over the past decade since its legalization in Colorado in 2012. The benefits of the plant continue to be argued by doctors, amateurs, homeopaths and many more, and we have learned that cannabis can treat many diseases and relieve some patients.

The main determinant that separates cannabis users is the intake of smoke.

We do not suggest the usage of cannabis through pre-rolls or joints if the client has any lung problems. Vaporizers are less harmful for the lung and could be a good option, but it is up to the users to decide whether they want to smoke or would prefer smokeless options.

If you do not want to smoke, we suggest that you try the following options offered at Seed & Stone:

  • Edibles
  • Tinctures

These two options are ingested orally, meaning they need to pass through the body and reach the liver to finally get into the bloodstream. Only then will the THC and/or CBD start to take effect. Users of edibles and tinctures must be patient and wait between 30 minutes and 1 hour to see if they feel anything before they take more cannabis. It is not uncommon for people that try oral marijuana for the first time to have a bad experience simply because they take too much.

Negative impacts of taking too much marijuana at once

Plus IconPlus Icon

It is possible for all cannabis users to go overboard and intake too much cannabis. This is not dangerous, however, if you do start to feel the uncomfortable side effect of paranoia, this probably means that you have taken too much. It is important for marijuana users to understand that being paranoid is not a normal side effect of cannabis consumption and to lower dosages if this feeling reoccurs.

What's the difference between sativa marijuana and indica marijuana

Plus IconPlus Icon

Sativa and indica are used to describe the respective THC and CBD levels in cannabis flowers. Sativa strains of marijuana are almost solely composed of THC, THC is so dominant in sativa that sometimes there’s only a marginal level of CBD. In opposition, indica marijuana strains contain more CBD, which offers more physical benefits such as muscle relaxation. All marijuana strains have specific properties and benefits, and with the growing popularity and availability of hybrid strains, the possibilities are endless.

What’s the difference between THC and CBD?

Plus IconPlus Icon

THC and CBD are the two natural compounds that are found in cannabis.

  • THC, also known as tetrahydrocannabinol, is the primary psychoactive compound in weed that produces the “high” sensation, enhancing focus and creativity for many people.
  • CBD, otherwise known as cannabidiol, does not cause any of the euphoric effects that THC creates, its effects are more felt on the body. Indica is great to relax muscles, reduce inflammation, pain, migraine, anxiety, depression and much more.

Can I grow cannabis plants?

Plus IconPlus Icon

In Canada, citizens are allowed to grow 4 cannabis plants per household. It is important to understand that it is not per person! Visit your provincial government website to know more about different restrictions that may pertain to your province.
